Neuroscience Preparing Young for Loss of Affect:

The videogame Haze, developed by UK studios Free Radical Design in 2007, has you playing a mercenary for a large multinational PMC (Private Military Corporation), called Mantel Corporation. All the mercs/soldiers use a 'nutritional drugs' called Nova-Keto-Thyrazine, Nectar in short, that enables them to fight/shoot better. However, it is also a hallucinogenic drugs not unlike Brave New World's Soma - except in this game, the 'soldiers', through the hallucinogen, view the world as a virtual reality videogame rather than the real world. So it 'desensitizes' them literally and prevents them from seeing the world through their own eyes.
